Wendy S. Winckelbach
Dr. Wendy Winckelbach grew up in the Greenwood area and is a graduate of Center Grove High School. She completed her undergraduate training at Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Scholl College of Chicago, Illinois in 2001. After receiving her DPM she completed a Post Graduate Surgical Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. She is Board Certified by American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a third generation podiatrist and considers herself honored to have practiced with her father Dr. J Winckelbach. She is on staff at Franciscan St. Francis Health and Community South Hospitals. She also serves as Chief of Podiatry at Franciscan St. Francis Health Indianapolis.
Dr. Winckelbach is the central trustee of the Indiana Podiatric Medical Association, a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Wendy Winckelbach specializes in many types of Foot and Ankle Surgeries with a special interest in diabetic foot health and limb salvage. She has been committed to educating family practice residents of the Franciscan St. Francis Health and teaching surgical techniques to podiatric residents attending the Community Westview Hospital residency programs. While a podiatry student, Dr. Winckelbach was named an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in 1998, and worked at a Chicago inner city clinic to educate diabetic patients on increased foot risks. Dr. Winckelbach has lectured to physician groups at Franciscan St. Francis Health as well as the general public on diabetic foot health. She, her husband Kirk and their three sons live on the south side.
Michael C. Carroll
Dr. Michael Carroll hails from the Chicagoland area and joined the Southside Foot Clinic in 2008. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western Illinois University and completed his Podiatric Doctorate Degree from Scholl College of Chicago, Illinois in 2001. Dr. Carroll completed two Podiatric Residencies, one in Primary Podiatric Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and in Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. He is currently on staff at Franciscan St. Francis Health and Community Hospital South. He also serves on the Medical Education Committee at Franciscan St. Francis Health, the Peer Review Committee of Indiana Podiatric Medical Association and as the Chief of Podiatry at Community Hospital South.
He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Carroll has published articles for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and has lectured extensively to physicians, residents, medical staff and the general public on Foot and Ankle care. He continues to educated family practice residents of the Franciscan St. Francis Health and teach surgical techniques to podiatric residents attending the Community Westview Hospital residency programs. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Indiana Podiatric Medical Association and a Fellow, American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. Dr. Carroll loves finding solutions to Complex Foot and Ankle Problems and believes each patient should be treated like family. Dr. Carroll enjoys living on the south side with his wife, Nancy, and their three beautiful children.
Dr. J K. Winckelbach has practiced on the Indianapolis southside for over 35 years after graduating from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1970. He has been an active member of the medical staff of St. Francis Hospital and Community Hospital South for the majority of that time. He serves as chief of the Podiatric section of the Surgery department at both facilities. Dr. J Winckelbach is extremely active in the Indiana Podiatric Medicine Association serving as president as well as actively involved in committees. He has also been active on a regional level serving as Treasurer of the Midwest Podiatry Conference since 1983 after serving as president in 1980. He has been honored repeatedly by his peers with awards including Podiatrist of the Year in 1982 and 2005. Dr. J Winckelbach is board certified in foot and ankle surgery. He also belongs to numerous medical societies and professional associations. Dr. J Winckelbach and his wife Susan raised three children in the Center Grove area and currently make Greenwood their home.
