Dr. Wendy Winckelbach grew up in the Greenwood area and is a graduate of Center Grove High School. She completed her undergraduate training at Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Scholl College of Chicago, Illinois in 2001. After receiving her DPM she completed a Post Graduate Surgical Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. She is Board Certified by American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a third generation podiatrist and considers herself honored to have practiced with her father Dr. J Winckelbach. She is on staff at Franciscan St. Francis Health and Community South Hospitals. She also serves as Chief of Podiatry at Franciscan St. Francis Health Indianapolis.
Dr. Winckelbach is the central trustee of the Indiana Podiatric Medical Association, a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Wendy Winckelbach specializes in many types of Foot and Ankle Surgeries with a special interest in diabetic foot health and limb salvage. She has been committed to educating family practice residents of the Franciscan St. Francis Health and teaching surgical techniques to podiatric residents attending the Community Westview Hospital residency programs. While a podiatry student, Dr. Winckelbach was named an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in 1998, and worked at a Chicago inner city clinic to educate diabetic patients on increased foot risks. Dr. Winckelbach has lectured to physician groups at Franciscan St. Francis Health as well as the general public on diabetic foot health. She, her husband Kirk and their three sons live on the south side.
